Free Save the Date Maker
Pick a design, add your names, date and place, and download a save the date to send on WhatsApp, by text or by email. Free, with no sign-up.
How to make your save the date
- Pick a design - Choose a design, from eucalyptus and wildflowers to a Banarasi arch. Every one shows your own names as you type.
- Add your details - Type both of your names, your wedding date and the town or venue. The last line says "Invitation to follow" unless you change it.
- Download or share it - Save it as a picture, or on your phone tap Share to send it straight to WhatsApp. It is sized like a phone screen, so it fills the screen when guests open it.
What to put on a save the date
- Both of your names
- The date (the day of the week helps guests check their diaries)
- The town, city or venue. The full address can wait for the invitation
- "Invitation to follow", so guests know more is coming and don't reply yet
- Your wedding website address, if you have one

Frequently asked questions
Is the save the date maker free?
Yes. Pick a design, add your names, date and place, and download your save the date as a picture. There is no sign-up and no charge. A small myweddingsite.co.uk credit sits at the foot of the card, away from your names.
How do I send a save the date on WhatsApp?
On your phone, tap Share under your save the date and choose WhatsApp, or save it to your photos and send it to each guest or your family group. It is 1080 by 1920 pixels, the shape of a phone screen, so it also works as a WhatsApp Status or an Instagram story.
What should a save the date say?
Keep it short: your names, the date, the town or venue, and "Invitation to follow". Leave timings, the dress code and the gift list for the invitation or your wedding website, where you can update them as plans firm up.
When should we send save the dates?
Most UK couples send save the dates 6 to 12 months before the wedding: around 6 months for a local wedding, 8 to 12 months for a peak-season date or if many guests are travelling, and 12 months or more for a wedding abroad.
Can guests RSVP from a save the date?
A picture can't collect replies. If you'd like guests to RSVP, make your free wedding website in the same design: guests open one link to see your details and reply online. With Premium you can also email your save the date to every guest, with an add-to-calendar button.
Can I print it?
It is made to be sent digitally, at the size of a phone screen. If you want printed cards as well, a stationer or print shop will set your wording on a standard 5 by 7 inch card that fits a normal envelope.
